>minimum wage (is) for the dropout with a drug conviction who barely shows up to dig the ditch. I am tired of paying his welfare..
You are completely fucking wrong.
Minimum wage was NEVER intended to be a bottom-barrel payment for people you think are losers.
>Franklin Delano Roosevelt, when the original minimum-wage law was passed in 1933:
>"No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.
>“By business I mean the whole of commerce, as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level; I mean the wages of decent living.”
Whatever bullshit you think about people who, for whatever reason, aren't able to get more than a minimum wage job, IT WAS ALWAYS INTENDED to be the minimum amount of money a person required to live a decent life. IT WAS NEVER INTENDED to be less than the costs of living.
Unfuck yourself.
