It was also for teenagers trying to get a part-time job. Never intended to be a wage you could live on.
This^
Their aren't enough part time teenagers to do all the jobs that your high and mighty self doesn't want to do. You're speaking nonsense. You wouldn't need a minimum wage if our governments didn't allow trading with chinks and other slave labor countries, concentrate on that.
You assume too much. Personally, there is not a job that I wouldn't do if need be. Nothing is too dirty.
As a father of teenagers, I can tell you there are not enough jobs for teens these days. Due to all the work place "safety" and piss poor immigration laws, teenagers are pretty much relegated to restaurant and retail work these days. No more pumping gas or picking crops after school.
Sorry for assuming too much. Better to get your kids learning some valuable trade then wasting time with some useless part time job at a restaurant. Massive shortage in skilled trades people. Start them young. For example in the Czech Republic kids are either journeymen tradesmen by grade 12 or going to university.
If we kicked out even half the illegals, and stopped coddling our children, you’d see teens working these jobs.
You're right.
That's a completely untrue statement. You're a moron.
Minimum wage was intended to cover the basic expenses of living, to be the absolute minimum amount needed for a man to keep his family alive.
It was never intended to be "for teenage part-timers."
