Right. IIRC the tests detect any virus in the coronavirus family, and there are many more than just COVID-19. SARS, MERS, and thousands of others with no/few/harmless symptoms
I think even beyond that, the test looks for a portion of the virus. It would be like saying a Bible is detected if the phrase "sin no more" is encountered.

Swab to the brain? I had to do the test prior to surgery. They barely put the swab up in my nose and it tickled.
A friends wife has to have weekly tests due to her job.... I can't tell if it's different tests or shitty testers but about half of hers were barely in the nose, and half were buried in her head...
