No one has attempted what Trump has since at least Kennedy, and the deeps are much more entrenched now.
The Presidency is a severely compromised office, partly by design. The U.S. republic is designed from the bottom up, to allow states and cities more power, however corruption particulary enjoys the benefits of freedom as well.
