There’s a pack of them across the street from me along the riverbank, and they howl every evening and every morning. I chased one with the mini14 four days ago. Couldn’t get a bead on him at 100 yards with the peep sights in the fog, but he zigzagged a few times. I need to get the scope mounted and dialed in for the kill. Yes, I know, “mini14”....whatever. I have other choices, but this one is my favorite. I’ll post kill picks when I get him/them.

If you're going to shoot them, don't waste them. It's not difficult to tan hides, and those pelts are worth money, if you don't use them yourself. So are the intact skulls once cleaned up, so don't go for a head shot. A .223 will drop a coyote in it's tracks if placed anywhere in the heart/lung area.

If you don't need or want the materials, or they aren't being a threat to you or your livestock, best to leave them alone, they are better to have around than the rodents they eat, and just their being in the area keeps rats and other vermin away. Rats can smell 'em and go the other way.

I live in an area where two packs territories overlap, it can be fun to listen to them when they cross paths, yipping and howling in their own little posturing session with each other. :) And no, I am nowhere near to being one of those Di$ney brainwashed tree-hugging soyboys, just someone who lives with nature, not against it. I hunt, fish, etc. just fine, but I don't believe in killing an animal just for the sake of killing, you might need that resource someday. (And the way things are going, that day might be soon)
