I'd say you should switch providers but It's not like there's an unpozzed option at this point. At least not that I'm aware of.
Where do you live where there isn't a monopoly on the lines? (Besides bullshit dsl or satellite)
I used to live in a city that had municipal fiber internet, $30/month. Fucking best customer service, never had any issues, we streamed 5 things at once sometimes.
I'm usually against government infrastructure, but they somehow got this right.
The key here is Municipal.
Localized Responsibility and Accountability.
I've never understood why cities, especially suburbs, didnt jump the fiber train decades ago.
Infrastructure is low maintenance and the amount of higher grade population it would bring to the city seems an obviously good investment.
That was my point.
