Have your tried reading systematic trinitarian Theology?
Let's just say, it's not the reason the east split from the west. Only a handful of men the world could get mad over the filioque and non of them have or want political power.
I'm mad about the Filioque all the time, and the only thing that can appease my rage is burning alive.
You're a very special boy.
The Orthodox believe there’s a different type of relationship between the Father and the Holy Spirit, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, with the result that the diagram has the Father at the top, and the Son and the Holy Spirit side-by-side; and that that is closer to what God is “like”, than the inverted Catholic diagram which has Father and Son side-by-side, with the Holy Spirit underneath. As I said, the Orthodox feel the first diagram is closer to the Truth. They argue about it with the Catholics for a little while, until eventually they concede there’s enough evidence of Saintly affirmation for the second diagram in medieval history that it simply isn’t worth arguing about.
Then they have to deal with the obvious qualitative difference between the Canonized Saints after the East-West Split, which is the real reason there won’t be a reunion without some huge, bloody Day of Reckoning.
