For anyone who's not familiar, philia is the Greek term for "brotherly love". It's not necessarily based on biological kinship, but rather someone with identifiable shared core values. If you're a Christian you'll find it all over the New Testament in reference to Christians who shared religious beliefs to a degree that trumped biological relatives, state authority, cultural pushback, etc.

As Aristotle astutely observed, it's nigh impossible for heterogenous societies to share philia. It'd be akin to Poalers sharing philia with someone who hates freesdom of speech and want to punch you if you disagree with them.
