It's a lie, there's no such thing as free shipping. Local buyers indirectly pay for distant buyers' shipping. It hurts communities by discouraging local commerce. eBay, Amazon, etc. urge their sellers to offer free shipping because of this.

Amazon also made a deal with the US Post Office where Amazon funnels all it's heavy bulk and awkward size packages through the postal system. Ever noticed the minority woman Amazon driver in the Mercedes van pretty much just delivers bubble envelopes while the Mail carrier in his own car is unloading the set of weights you ordered?

Yeah I've noticed that, black people delivering packages in large mercedes vans.

I hate Amazon. It was built on anticompetition, now they are huge and influence policy in their favor, e.g. sweetheart deal with USPS as you say. And they benefit hugely from the lockdown policy.

Everything they do is just another monopolistic anticompetitive effort. Free Shipping, Amazon Basics, Amazon Fresh, AWS.
