Dude, if your family is really your family, then they'll deal with you being the "eccentric" who has controversial opinions. Why are YOU the one who has to put their opinions in a box so as not to offend others? Why aren't THEY putting THEIR opinions in a box? None of my family shares my views but I openly espouse them regardless and I've gotten used to the "aww shit here he goes...." eye rolling and glances they give each other, but it doesn't stop me, and I'm always sure to compliment everyone and tell them how much I love them when I'm there. It's hard to hate a guy who praises your cooking and takes great interest in your life, just because he has views you don't like.
