I went to 2 years of HS n Hawaii and 2 in Az. Hawaii prepares their graduates to work a tour bus. Arizona wants them to be an engineer... luckily chose the ladder.

It's both. Other than sweet potatoes, sugar and carbs weren't part of their diet before European contact. In addition to that, they didn't have to work very many hours to satisfy their daily needs. Hour or two fishing, while someone else gathers roots and berries and after that you could sit on your ass and sharpen your spear. Like niggers, they aren't able to acclimate to western society, and western society is actually bad for them.

Both. Polynesians literally have the highest obesity rates on the planet. Like the Native Americans, they weren’t built to digest basically anything in even the pre-Industrial Revolution European diet. Milk and grain are problems for them, as is sugar.

Plus, think about the average welfare recipient diet. Nothing but processed wheat, fat, and sugar, with a big side of preservatives.

Aren't all the pacific islanders pretty close genetically, or am I thinking of something else? They all seem to have similar health issues.

I've heard the cultural issues are more of an "island mentality" that is shared by people of all ethnicities who live on islands but I've never really looked into it myself. I'm curious to hear what others think.

There are noticeable and well-documented anthropological issues with societies that develop in tropical regions. When you have abundant natural resources, easy to access food, and mild year round weather, civilization doesn’t usually progress beyond hunter-gatherer status. Agriculture, the driver of more complex societies, develops as a response to relative scarcity. “Oceania” never really moved past those paradigms. What we term laziness is essentially part of their culture.
