I've always hated that line as a feminist mantra. Women (and men) are most assuredly objects just as much as they are subjects. At the end of the day, no one has any actual perspective on anything else apart from their subjective one. That makes everyone and everything else objects.

It doesn't follow that you should therefore mistreat others. Just because something else is an object in relation to you doesn't mean you should break it, kick it, burn it or tell it it may not drive without a male relative.

Everyone is an object of one kind or another until you get to know them, everyone.

Its assumed that objectifications are always negative ones, I doubt that a lot.

Another assumption is that once you get to know them is that they are truly wonderful human beings. If only....

Just because we perceive subjectively doesn't make things actually objects. We can speak of objective truths and perceive them without physically literally sensing them. We can perceive enough to know that others exist and have their own experiences - we dont have to know what those experiences are to know they exist.
