I bought quails with a small part my last check. A dozen or so of them. I turned those into hundreds, plus the thousands of eggs between then and now. Ever had a freezer full of quail?
Do you raise them to sell them to the state game commissions for stalking the state game lands purposes? If you don't, did I just give you a really lucrative idea? There's no need to tell me. Really, if you're raising them in those numbers I hope you're making a mint on them.
There's a popular spot for that type of thing maybe 10 minutes from me. Pheasants and Bob whites, fields of nets, etc.
I raise jumbo coturnix, the jap quail. I did sell quite a few live birds and hatching eggs, but the goal was to keep the freezer full of meats and my extended family stocked with eggs.
It's a fantastic animal.
I finally got enough fake internet points to start s/Quail. Stop by if you've got cool pics or stories.
Oh, I can't raise any birds here. I can get fresh farm eggs from really close tho. I miss where I lived years ago. 2.5 minutes drive @ 20 miles an hour to a farm with a peach orchard. 3 minutes to a (now closed) junkyard and about 10 more to a dairy farm. Meh, I don't even drive to the farmers stands in the summer, just walk. Guess it's not so bad, small town flyover country.
