Fun fact: I had a lot of fun in 2020. I got to work from home, hang out with my kids, and basically not worry about the 'corporate' lifestyle. My wife feels the same. It feels like the media is really trying to press the fact that 2020 was terrible and everybody wants it gone. Although there are/were things that I want gone from 2020, I also feel it was an eye opener for me in more ways than one.

You are correct. My wife and are amazed at this phenomenon you speak of. It mostly takes the form of, "we'll see you after the vaccine." We've decided to play along with their neuroses by telling our friends we took the shot the first time we hear a friend tell us they were vaxed. We are aware the vaccine won't be enough, there will be a newer, scarier virus right behind the last one. The fear porn will be ratcheted to 11 and noone will visit us.

They aren't "slipping", people have always been superstitious.
