Now I feel kinda bad, I don’t wanna ruin this place for everyone with my redpills and everything. But voats gone...

I feel like a refugee coming to another country and demanding it becomes like the place I left.

Yeah, there was a lot of thought put into this place at the beginning to try and figure out how the site should be run. Looking at other platforms, and trying to see what lessons could be learned, and how we could avoid their mistakes.

For instance, we almost immediately got set upon by SBBH and other shills. They tried to abuse free speech for the purpose of silencing other's free speech. Obvious shill tactics like slide threads, spamming, brigading, etc. Things that are technically free speech, but do nothing but subvert and destroy free speech. After some very hard discussion, it was decided that in order to protect our rights, sometimes we need to be willing to cede some of those rights to a benevolent authority, and PMYB2 started banning. He was seriously distraught over it. It put him into a depressive funk for a few weeks, and shortly after, an automated system was made, the Suspicious Behavior system. Whether we came to the correct conclusion or not, and whether the admins that were given that authority were the right people for it is up for you to decide.

But, the shills were defeated, they ran back to Voat with their tails between their legs, and since they couldn't subvert us, they used the other shill tactic. They trashtalked Poal on Voat until nobody had a positive opinion of us. I can guarantee that 99% of the people trashtalking Poal on Voat were shills. And it worked. Even now, goats are suspicious of this place.

Aside from the Suspicious Behavior tag, the other thing shills really like to attack us on is that the admins like to move threads. Again, that's the result of a discussion that was had. If people want to see certain content, they're going to look for it in a certain place, so you should be posting it there. If people don't want to see that content, it allows them to block that sub, and no longer see it. And ultimately, if everyone is just dumping everything in whatever, the place is going to move so fast, nobody is going to see your post anyway, and that's just as bad as censorship. The shills like to complain that the admins are hiding posts in places where nobody is going to see them, but we take the stance that the admins respect what you have to say enough to move it to some place where it can be found. Think of it like a disorganized pile of books vs a well catalogued library. Accessible speech is free speech.
