Most women are not even present when the genital mutilation occurs. The instances where woman have been present usually have stated that it was a moment of absolute horror for them which remained stuck in their mind for a very long time because they could see with their own eyes the trauma, the fear and the horrendous pain that their baby boy goes through and it was all because of their decision. They realise at that moment that they are failures as mothers because they totally forsake their most important duty which is to protect their own child from harm. People sometimes think genital mutilation of boys is no big deal because in some instances there is no reaction from the baby boy after getting their genitals mutilated but that is because the boy goes into an absolute state of shock which is a defence mechanism when you experience huge amounts of pain and trauma. So the same damage is done either way, with or without the horrific reaction. Genital mutilation is pure evil.
