No I grew up in Titusville Fl my dad got a job at NASA in the 80s my first launch I watched was the Challenger and it exploded for 3 years the shuttle fleet was grounded but then The Discovery returned to space I graduated from Astronaut High school then got a job at KSC I worked on the launch pads. The last shuttle flight was a sad day I watched it from Cocoa Beach with my son it was his first and last shuttle launch. The shuttle when it returned to KSC from space made twin sonic booms one from the tail one from the nose. Elon musk's falcon 9 is nothing like the shuttle but the falcon heavy is pretty intense. The boosters make sonic booms when they come back and land upright near the launch pads. Elon has made more progress in a few years than NASA has in decades but that's because he is trying to save money. The Discovery is on display at KSC visitor center but you are correct no shuttle launches any more. But the Space Force has a mini space shuttle it looks just like the big one but it's all black.
