History. Plain and simple. You had a history, a culture, a story and familiarity there. If you're honest, this site - with the exception of a few differences in rules (such as the downvote button) - is not that far from what you had at Voat. That shouldn't be surprising: it was created by people who'd left Voat.
Imagine you lived in a house where each room was the same. Your little brother looks up to you, and so he tries to decorate his room like yours. He even gets pretty close. One day the house catches fire. They manage to save the house, but your room was lost. Your parents tell you that, until further notice, you're going to be sharing a room with your little brother.
That's what is happening here. You had a history in your room. On some of those really bad nights, you spent that time in your room, with your things and your memories. Plus there were the really good nights, when you'd still wind up in your room.
It's never going to be the same, even if you had your room rebuilt. It's not the same room anymore. The old one is gone, and you've got to give it time. You had how many years in your old room? 3-6 years for a lot of us. You've been here 4 days. The real difference is that you didn't go into your old room with expectations. It simply became what it was going to become. Now, you've gone into your little brother's room with the mind full of expectations that 3-6 years in your old spot imprinted on you.
1 year from today, if you continue to use this site, I guarantee you'll feel very different. That's still just 1 year. Imagine 4 or 5. Don't expect a miracle, and you won't be disappointed.
