The hewing axe was my great grandfathers. I used to hand hew 16x16" Hemlock at whatever length I could get out of the tree, bury them in some high iron mud and leaf compost, pull them out and clean them up a bit. I got $3,000 for one that was 40' long with an average being 20 foot timbers that would sell for 750-1200. My shoulder is fucked now so I can't run an axe all day.

The blocker is a german steel head I found at a junk store for 5 bucks. The stamp on it says "dsw germany 1937". Did some research and haven't found anything on the foundry that made it.
