I hopped on before the reddit migrations, by a little bit. Not by much. And by the time that the goat was slain, most of the names I recognized had disappeared. A few of them crept out at the end to say goodbye, but I was never as close to anyone there as I am to specific people in other communities.

And yet, I will mourn its loss all the same. Poal may prove to be a fine surrogate, I hope to call it a new home, but I shall always remember the goat.

It just feels weird to miss a community that I could barely name specific active figures from.

It was a place that felt like the old internet. Back when shit was on small forums and no one gave a shit about anything.

It really feels like a digital version of that "The world you were born into is no more" meme.

Let's hope that Poal turns out to be the same sort of home. I would hate to see, as a comic from the early oughts put it, "the internet turn into a boring digital mall"
