I hopped on before the reddit migrations, by a little bit. Not by much. And by the time that the goat was slain, most of the names I recognized had disappeared. A few of them crept out at the end to say goodbye, but I was never as close to anyone there as I am to specific people in other communities.

And yet, I will mourn its loss all the same. Poal may prove to be a fine surrogate, I hope to call it a new home, but I shall always remember the goat.

It just feels weird to miss a community that I could barely name specific active figures from.

You may be right in that.

Maybe It'll turn out that all that changes are two letters in the URL, and what the name of the admins we're after with pitchforks and torches are. I hope so. But I still feel a sense of loss, y'know? Without more details, it feels bad how it all went down.
