I was a little pissed about the timing of the shutdown but he was on chat last night for a while and answered everyone's questions. He's just burnt. Says Voat takes 10k a month to run and he's been footing the bill sinse March.
I figured he was burnt out and disinterested. He barely kept the site running in the past year, and never sought help. But I still thank him for being the "man in the arena", to reference the quote he put in his pull-the-plug announcement. I wish he would have put some effort into handing it off to somebody, but it was his baby. Hopefully poal can pick up the mantle.
10K? Do you think that's true? Where would he get 10K each month? Is Justin that rich? Why wouldn't he hand the site over to someone else?
