Privacy is a thing of the past and, quite honestly, I'm not sure if it's better to hide in plain site or continue on encrypting everything and limiting my exposure (leave any networked devices at home while out and about, only network things that need to be networked, etc.). I lean towards doing what I've always done but sometimes that paints a bigger target over your head. "We're not sure what they are doing but we're sure we won't like it so let's nuke the bastard."
Yeah I'm right there with you. So many are able to operate with near impunity while being reckless, it's almost like they only watch for the ones "hiding" something.
But at the same time they collect it all regardless, and have quantum computing (probably) to break any encryption. If that isn't here it's right around the corner.
I will say that, like another commenter mentioned, if you drive a newer car you're extra fucked. Drive-by-wire mixed with WiFi or a sim card means full remote access or lockout.
