Totse.com was the first mainstream forum with free speech. It was basically the most successful free speech forum back in the days. They even had their own merchandise. On January 17, 2009, Jeff Hunter the founder announced the end of Totse without explanation.

This makes me draw parallels with Voat.

oh man, this brings back glorious memories.. while i dont know what happened either, todays youth will never know the joy of dialing up a BBS or the dread of the long distance bill. that site helped shape my personality and gave me my first insight into a long road of truth seeking. i would like to think that the admin went on to bigger and better things, but for all we know, he could have become a leftwing canary or self destructed into nothingness. dude was a saint for the fire he started...

No, but do you remember doodie.com? Ahhhhhh memories!

Never been there. What it was about?

Degeneracy...

I presume the owner is a shit lover.

I know the original TOTSE was a BBS. The owner pulled plug simply to retire after a glorious 20 year run. My guess is totse.com was one of the continuation sites for the community (like v/HDLUnited was for Hiddenlol), but I never used totse.com so I wouldn't really know.

The pinnacle of 2009 era free speech was probably 4Chan /b/.

4chan was designed by an autistic retard.

All the normal people were on Totse.

I faintly recall Totse.

Maybe that where I first read the Anarchist Cookbook and phreaking stories like Cap'n Crunch.

I was gonna build a blotto box to take down my whole area code but I got high on bananadine and chilled TF out.
