Let's start from the beginning.

You are a human being and your actions are guided by the information you have. Agree so far? But that information is based on what you see and hear, the information you receive.

Now what changes if the information you receive is altered? Your thoughts and reasoning thus your actions. Agree yet?

Finally if you have been told since birth that 'this group of people out there' (pointing fingers) are the bad guys (war rhetoric), will you be more outspoken in supporting a war against 'that group of bad people'?

This is just one example of your everyday life. I'm not even gonna start with marketing that has the sole goal of eradicating knowledge with the conclusion 'just choose our product and we will solve the problem', for any given problem. Because if you don't know of any alternatives to 'the product', then you have none.
