Just basic x-rays and a teeth cleaning charged my insurance 450 bucks recently. That's more money / hour than fillings. Add to that, with all things considered, my dentist's office would rather do nothing but cleanings because a cleaning only requires a hygenist, not a dentist to perform the actual work.

They make more just cleaning the teeth as it's more scalable with cheaper labor. Given the choice, with money as the winning condition, an office would rather have a dentist verifying cleanings all day rather than commiting them to a couple patients for corrective operations / fillings.

Also bill nye is a fucking faggot.

Nye's statement is a dad joke....has he gone more senile than he was?

That being said, almost all toothpastes (there are exceptions) are similar, same some use stannous fluoride vs the older sodium fluoride. The rest of the crap other than potassium nitrate (and that's kind of iffy as to it doing anything in a paste) does nothing. If your toothpaste has a fluoride component then it's as good as pretty much every other toothpaste on the market.

That's the reason a manufacturer, at least in the USA, can say it's the "best" - all of them are "the best" because they all have the exact same active ingredient. It's only when you say it's "better" you get into having to prove your claims.
