No system with leaders is going to avoid that problem. I agree about the welfare.
Limited government solves that problem. Even if I wanted to favor my own people as a Helicoptarian councilman there are barriers to do so.
First of all I would likely get voted out as we have yearly elections and the responsibility of our government is limited. Going outside our constitutional limits with say subsidies would be very obvious.
Secondly our budget and power is extremely limited. The budget is only for police and military so stealing it all would quickly become apparent and wouldn't yield much compared to the money the deep state is controlling today. We also don't have eminent domain for stealing property. We can't even pass laws or regulations favoring a business that someone we know owns.
We could appoint biased judges.. but all court cases must be public so that would also quickly be seen, we would be voted out and all the biased judges could be dismissed by the new council.
Compared to a communist system or one with government eugenics where the ruler can rape your daughter or have you castrated for fun there's no comparison at all just because "leaders".
I'm 100% with you on limited government. The problem is most people aren't.
Don't mistake me for advocating a fascist system like eugenics as my ultimate preference. I am merely pondering an alternate history.
Yes eugenics would be good, it just needs to be natural ie. through a free market with no welfare and no regulation on voluntary genetic modification of humans.
Instead today we have welfare, biotech is banned for human use .. and used for bio weapons instead.
There would have been many flaws with a Nazi world, but it would have been much better or at least we would have gone further before things began to go wrong.
