There is no question that culture will be forever changed after the coronavirus pandemic ends. Here are some lessons we've learned that would change it for the better:

  • Manufacturing should be brought home, not outsourced. A country should be able to manufacture its own essential goods if necessary.

  • Cities are potential hotbeds of infection. More people should be living on their own land rather than crowded into cities.

  • Immigration should be limited to protect the labor pool in the country, as well as to prevent contagion.

  • People should start gardens, and every citizen should have enough resources in store for at least a few months.

  • Every citizen should have basic knowledge on the skills required to be self-sufficient, including growing food, cooking, home economics, and medicine.

  • International travel on planes and cruise ships may be more common than it should be, and people should be more careful when doing it.

  • Small and local businesses should be supported just as much as (If not more than) big businesses.

  • Sound money is better than fiat, especially if fiat currency can be issued infinitely.

  • Nuclear families and high-trust communities are vitally important.

What are some other cultural lessons that should be learned from this?

Good points.

State legislators need to pass laws which prevents the governor or state's health department from unilaterally shutting down the state.

The heads of health departments are non-elected officials and, in no way, should be granted the powers that they have been. Actions mandated by those heads are completely unconstitutional. Same with any mandate, law, rule etc coming from any agency.
