The other problem is: Most people (myself included) wouldn't know the difference between the best violinist in the world and someone moderately good, except that you can pay a lot of money to see the best violinist in the world in a concert hall. Maybe another moral to this story is you don't need to shell out a bunch of money to see an excellent musician if you can get the same satisfaction from listening to a decent one.

Have you ever heard someone play violin in person? A bad player is noticeably and distinctly a bad violinist. A talented violinist stirs something in you and I can only imagine what a master sounds like in person.

Oh a bad player is horrible. But the difference between good and great? I could probably only tell if they were playing side by side. I'm a philistine though.
