They haven't equal value, and value is relative
Take a bum for instance, one with no relatives on top of that, he has literally no value economically speaking, no value for anybody. Arguably, he doesn't even have value for himself
He's literally nothing, for pretty much anybody
And then one day, shit happens to you, or worse, to the person you value the most, your kid. And that bum happens to play a key role in avoiding what would have been otherwise, an absolute disaster, because he was the only one in position to provide help and he did, and it changed everything
What's the value of that bum then, to you? He's everything
