If all else has failed, then I would recommend that the OP, as well as any other victims of my words here today, keep in mind that no benefit shall come from tolerating such insouciance from a machine.

I tell you, I have no respect for computers. Last time a machine gave me a stop error, I drew my sidearm and put four rounds through the accursed thing, easily puncturing its thin aluminium shell and rupturing the smoke-tubes that give it its power. It gave up the ghost shortly thereafter and has since been replaced with a more obedient device.

Also, I blew three holes in my wall and scared the crap out of my neighbours (Hahahaha, no. This is Africa.) caused my neighbours literally no concern whatsoever.

The moral of the story? Just have a gun. Pew pew pew.

Best to give a good for the old /dev/sda. Hopefully his memory (i.e. backups) live on.
