Why the big deal if only a few thousand are sick with less than 100 deaths? Of course, taking that information and adding they have quarantined, or restrict travel to, 50 million people should lead those with some form of critical thinking skills to come to the conclusion that one of the following is false - 1, only 1500 are sick with 40ish deaths so this isn't a big deal; or 2, there's hundreds of thousands sick with hundreds of deaths (maybe thousands) and they have to quarantine, or restrict travel to, 50 million people.
There's hundreds of thousands of sick people right now walking about normally with the flu in the USA, yet there's no movement restrictions for them. I'm not worried about it, but at the same time, I'm paying attention so if I have to make a decision about bugging out, I can make an informed decision.
The reality check is this - do you believe the state's claims or the state's actions? If the state is believable, their actions would reflect what they are saying. Their actions lead me to believe they don't have any semblance of control on the situation currently and their narrative is bullshit. Depending on how this plays out, this could be Communist China's Chernobyl.
