Updating the events of for any who might be interested.
Testing showed that it was indeed the video card that gave out on my netbook. I plan on taking it to the local repair shop next to my office to see if it can be fixed for a reasonable price. Failing in that I'll offer to give it to them for referb & resale if the try to recover the save file for the idle game I've been playing for the past year. It's the only file of import on the machine that isn't backed up somewhere.
My sister gifted me a 5 year old 10 inch Win7 netbook with a _blazing_ 1.3 GHz processor that I spent the last 2 hours working with. I decided on xubuntu as I've enjoyed XFCE in the past and this version of ubuntu isn't complete shite. I might try mint later if I'm feeling cute, IDK. This is a bit of a spur of the moment thing. I did install Mumble so I'll be around to harass you all with my keyboard as I have for the past couple weeks. So you have that to look forward to. Aren't we all just blessed with the best fortune? I think so.
