After getting home from 10 hours of work that, thanks to the weather, felt like 12 I opened my netbook to look at my idle games & shoot the shit with you fine folks only to find that the screen won't turn on.

I won't lose anything because it's all backed up, but it will surely be a downer until I can get it a shop to find out if it can be repaired. With any luck it's something simple like a loose connection that can be gotten at with tools I don't have.

I feel for you. About a month ago I was called at work by my son who told me that my youngest daughter had spilled a glass of milk on my new gaming laptop.

This has saved me a few times. Had a laptop take a shit while I was on call for the weekend. Pulled out my old one, ran a few updates and I was good. It also meant I could take my time finding a deal on a new laptop instead of having to buy one immediately.

Just last year I have my 10 year old Hills hold out laptop to a friend who needed it. If I can't get this one fixed maybe I'll drop him a line to see if he held on to it.

You can probably use an external screen.

HDMI to USB or some shit if it's available. If you're in luck, it might have an HDMI port.
I don't know shit about netbooks, though.

Double checking the ports was my first move. I found an old monitor, a VGA/HDMI adapter... No power cord. I might have one in my box of cables at the office. I'll check tomorrow.

You'll probably be able to pull it off.

Plug it into an external monitor to see if the video card is still okay and only the built in display needs work.

anything can be fixed with a big enough hammer.

For the record; the hammer is my penis.
