Those are the four pillars of meaning for a woman.

maybe, well I got something out of it because I'm a women.

what would you say they are for men?

I got six minutes into it until I realized it only applies to women. For men I could only think of three. Family, duty and honor should make any man content if not happy. Happiness is a luxury.

well family can fit into belonging, for me that's how I took it. not sure where else I belong but with my family. the others where purpose, transcendence which she described as feeling connected to higher reality (so going to church to some, looking at art to others, being in nature to someone else, maybe meditating to another), and story telling which she described as the story we tell ourselves about ourselves. We can focus on the positive or the negative.

Her talk wasn't about being happy or even content but finding meaning in our life, that that was a better and more fulfilling goal post.

I guess it was the last two, transcendence and story telling I didn't agree with. Especially story telling as it seems like self manipulating lies. The first two very much make sense.

yea the word transcendence did put me off a little bit but I know for me looking a higher power does give my life more meaning so I think she used that word to include all religious and people without religion.

also I think that is a bit what she meant by storytelling. It's the truth just told to yourself in a positive light so it is a bit of manipulating but still the truth at least in part. Idk you can tell a story and focus on negative or the positive and how you tell it will influence how you feel about it. This one could be more about feelings than meaning though.
