wasn't this the black Israelites? let me throw out a scenario. lets say there was a group that was so convinced they were right that they approved of one of their own going into a place and stabbing a bunch of people. that's commitment, right? what if one of their number wasn't quite on board with actual threat to life and limb, but was still committed to the cause. so he sees a bunch of law enforcement responding to a robbery or something, turns on his camera, and spins a narrative that that posits the possibility that they was framed. that's how disinformation works. muddying the waters. causing doubt. most people would just shrug and say "i have no idea whats going on here. this might not be what i thought it was. i'm confused. whats for dinner?"
