I bought "rules for radicals" at the same time that I bought this. ive listened to the audiobook but I like to read at my own pace when dissecting a book. ive also read the art of war but it was a while ago before we were actually at war. I intend to read it again with a new perspective. I haven't read Machiavelli. I've been kind of avoiding his writing because I don't like the idea of manipulating people and I don't want to do it even unintentionally. but I see now I should read all this stuff just to recognize the tactics people use to defend against them.
Machiavelli was not really about being evil. It is a thought experiment and written not as a manual, but as entertainment. Like you are saying, to defend yourself from a psychopath, you must first understand one ... which in a way requires a bit of a mental + emotional journey. This is what you get with Machiavelli. It's an awareness manual. One could easily have written it in a boring, academic stance but it wouldn't have had the same punch to it.
Consider the link I gave LinkedForever in the other comment for a real awareness manual (the protocols audio analysis).
thank you! good stuff to chew on!
tfw we have to explain this to normies
It's like pulling teeth, I swear.
I get it, I should be more patient, but holy niggers... it's not like I put a lot of effort in to the perspective I've developed or anything.
