He is way out of line pushing that shit on you in the workplace. Have a man to man conversation with him. After thinking about exactly how and what you should say. Calmly explain that you don't want to hear about his views on race and other political things. It isn't suitable for the workplace and that is all it has to be about. We're at work so let's work. You can have a work relationship but that is it.
I am planning on addressing it tomorrow as I am tired of it. Like you said it needs some planning
It sucks bringing up workplace conflict. I have always employed a lowest level first tactic but it hasn't always led to the best outcome. If you feel you have to go right to an immediate supervisor, do so. Put the responsibility on their shoulders. It wouldn't be a repremandable offense so he shouldn't get in trouble. But it would force the supervisor to think of what and how to say it. And the behavior is sure to stop.
Nah construction supervisor wouldn't give a shit. I'll talk to him tomorrow and hopefully that resolves it
Be prepared, he's gonna call you a racist
I want to believe he is an exception to the rule but I won't be shocked.
