I experience a similar feeling. The internet is terrible and it's filled with irritating people. Everyone just circlejerks about their interest of the moment; all mouth and no ears. Tragic. That said, at least internet randos don't break into your friend's house at 11:30 on a sunday evening, forcing you to get the gun and the cricket bat and go cruising the bad side of town in search of suspiciously wealthy suspicious characters and an altercation. So it's a bit of a mixed bag, the old *information superhighway*.
