Yeah, I don't own one, but have cognitively come around to them. A buddy of mine (after much cajoling) convinced me to shoot the thing. I couldn't believe how slowly the slide recoiled, but I guess that's what you get when yo make it out of cast iron. But yeah, when my booger hooks pushed the bang switch it went "boom", which is 95% of what you want out of a gun to begin with. I'm trying to un gun-snob myself.
It will happen. I manufacture HK clones, AKs, ARs, and a lot of stuff. People think I am a gun snob. I'm not. I really just like to collect anything. I even buy bubba'd guns and try and save them. It is a nice hobby of mine. I actually like my cheaper guns more. You can have more fun and enjoy them more without the risk of dropping the value of them. That is why I really like my cheaper guns I guess. My kids have gotten to the ages of hunting and while I love them I'm not letting them take my most expensive guns out. Hell when I go my favorite rifle to take is still my Mossberg 100 ATR in 30-06. I just feel like you get more use out of cheaper guns. I rarely ever take out my expensive guns, but I take out my cheaper guns to the range/fields to let my buddies shoot all the time.
I thought about getting into 3d printing, but as of now it's not important since I can't afford to plink anyway.
It is cheap to get into 220-250ish bucks. Then you gotta buy the parts. It is cheaper than the gun in the long run. The problem with anything is ammo now.
