the failure of the drive into EV is a textbook example of everything that goes wrong.
it backs the wrong industries. No one really has any idea what products people might want in five or ten years time
The premise is wrong: EVs were never about building anything deplorables wanted. They were about limiting movement. The real problem was the plan to force us deplorables into EVs failed too quickly.
Hertz in the US is disposing of the 20,000 EVs it bought with great fanfare in recent years, and is replacing them with petrol models, due to lack of demand.
I was actually subjected to this bullshit. Hertz's Dollar brand did a bait and switch on me by advertising a low priced rental and informing me at pickup that they substituted an EV for me because they "ran out" of the gas vehicle i had booked. I told them an EV was not a suitable substitution for a gas vehicle and had to battle them to give me a gas rental car. It was ugly.
