Gas: Mine petroleum -> refine into gas -> transport -> fill car

Electricity: Mine petroleum -> refine into gas -> burn -> make spin turbine -> store electricity -> transport -> store again -> charge car

Exactly. I once described on voat as

Consider all the energy conversion losses as you take fossil fuels convert it to mechanical energy, then convert it to electricity, then convert that into chemical energy, then convert back to electrical energy and into mechanical energy.

Very efficient.
