Yea, when your business model is pissing off influencers and maker communities, it's not going to work well, no matter how good your hardware may be.

I have a old prusa i3 re-brand that has been modded so much its not even the same printer anymore. Its ancient compared to most of the stuff out now.
Place I work with has a high-end unit, and they certainly do a lovely job of printing...but their stance on software and lockdowns is not something that you can sell the community.
They sure seem to have a lot of drama in that company.
Asian companies seem to have backwards policies around possessiveness of intellectual assets, ironic given China's disregard for ours.
