Brits were also the first to begin mass assault on civilians, i.e carpet bombing and deliberate strikes against towns in ww2.
Hitler refused to bomb British cities at first but Churchill figured if the Brits bombed German cities enough, Hitler would have to retaliate. And it worked.
The RAF and the US air force killed more civilians in WWII than any other military organizations. Look at Dresden, which was Churchill's pet project. Only God knows how many people died there but it was way above 100,000. And the fire bomb raids on Tokyo killed at least 100,000 and the two nukes we used killed around 150,000 outright with many more people dying of radiation sickness and burns etc after the bombings.
Then look at the end of the war. Every single German female from 8 to 80 was sought out and raped by Russian and US troops.
