Oh geez how do I explain kasha, it really by itself doesn't taste like anything at all and yet it does at the same time. It's like something you add to a dish for texture, that's why it's used in so many eastern dishes. People often do eat it by itself and I can only imagine someone doing that if it is fresh and seasoned with something like butter. I know a lot of westerners who have tried kasha and they don't particularly tend to like it. I guess it is something you might have to grow up with like Russian soda (kvass). I thought maybe the poorer quality MREs from those two were because of it being from a poorer nation but I've seen the MREs from other poor nations like the Jordanian one and that one looked perfectly fine to me. It just doesn't seem like China gives a shit about their soldiers. I'm not a big fan of sugary or sweet stuff unless it is fruit or honey based. Half of the SA one was just processed sugar the other half of the funding was spent on designing the packaging lmao. You don't have to make your MREs look like artwork, I think most soldiers would care more about functionality and quality of food than nigger fonts.
