I can't help but feel that this could lead to a great American firewall like China. A non anonymous Internet, forced identification to get social media accounts etc.

I'm not saying he doesn't have a point, but I just don't like where this is headed.

I see a place for a digital ID where you can prove who you are to say: vote, leave reviews, buy stuff.

But similarly I believe anonymous access is needed to: research, chat, buy stuff, without fear of spying or retribution.

in a way its already there, you need a google account to leave reviews, an account for this, for that. Free anonymous speech barely exists today, when you look at geo-ip, ip tracking, fingerprinting, etc
