I really doubt it'd stop a 7.62 fired from a rifle or even a 5.56.
Even if it did prevent penetration, YOU'RE STILL GETTING KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT. Might even fuck up your neck. There's no way that a helmet like this could disperse the force from a fucking rifle round (or even a .44 magnum fired from a pistol) away from the point of impact to prevent MASSIVE concussive force.
So, I suppose I'd wager that, hypothetically, if you shot someone in the face who was wearing one of these, they'd probably be out of the fight- at least for a minute or more.
A lot of "bullet resistant" gear, I genuinely believe, is meant to make you feel more protected so you are more willing to take great risks in the middle of a gunfight. He who dares, triumphs.
Of course, that becomes sinister when you have an entire army outfitted like this, instilling false confidence in them that may get them killed.
Not true, this would no more "knock you out" than firing an AR from your chin would. Bullets don't magically acquire energy in flight. If they don't knock you over firing they won't knock you over on impact even if 100% of the energy is transferred. That's just basic physics.
The destructive power comes from the speed and hydroscopic damage.
