Want to know what's worse? Brake pads. Smaller and far more toxic dust particles.

Don't live in crowded areas but if you must, always live upwind of the freeways and major arteries.

Brake pads used to be bade from asbestos. How did we ever survive?

[–] 0 pt

We didn't, why do you think life expectancy rose since the 1900s. Don't forget leaded gas

[–] 0 pt

A lot of that shit went in to our bodies through the air and the water. I think it's probably made things worse. Certainly can't have helped.

ugh.

I was gonna say I live near a busyish state route and the pollution coats the house over time with a black soot.

RIP your lungs.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

Yeah I heard somewhere if you live within 2000 feet of a highway or some shit your chances of cancer go up 100%. Don't remember the exact stats.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

Aw awesome, my last 4 apartments had a view of the freeway

[–] 1 pt (edited )

Everybody will die of cancer anyways, there's just too much shit floating around everywhere

Consider yourself lucky if your kids don't turn gay because of tap water

I like how he said that 80% of all PM10 pollution in major cities is from road transport and that it comes up to over 600,000 tons of dust across the US per year. The best part is how he then implies that all of it is tire dust and that it all ends up being ingested by us, or things that we ingest.

Now I'm not saying that tires and the dust that they produce isn't harmless. I would just like to know what percentage of that 80% is tire dust as opposed to say brake dust, diesel soot, metal particulates, etc. If you are going to produce media that claims to be educational make sure that you aren't subtly misrepresenting the facts like a fucking jew.

It's 6 gazillion percent. Now eat ze bugs!

It goes in the balls with the pee.

Wherever the rain takes it.

Then where is all the rubber in the lakes? Shouldn't there be detectable rubber everywhere?

[–] 2 pts

After many years of tires, they are finally starting to do some studies. I believe a significant portion is eaten by bacteria, but until then it provides a film near major roadways and effects some of the tiny creatures like snails.

[–] 0 pt

Fuck snails. They eat my strawberries. If bacteria can eat rubber why doesn't rubber rot away?

[–] 1 pt

And yet we're all still here.

So, your just going to forget about all the people who are dead?

[–] 0 pt

Hmm. You know, you bring up a good point. There are 100 billion people who are dead now. You can't ignore that. I'll have to sit and think about this.

I hang my worn out tires on a clothesline near the interstate. In about 20,000 years, they'll be good as new.

Breaking news. Damn near everything on this planet, man made or natural, is either slowly or not so slowly killing everything. Accept it. You ain’t gonna change it.

Even oxygen kills us. Oxidation. Our bodies have to fight it constantly with antioxidants.
