It was bound to happen. Crackerbox junk was being throw up that started to fall apart after a year or two. Some buildings didn't even stay up that long -- they fell over or collapsed. Nobody was ever going to live in this trash. The Chinese are like insects, building things they don't need for reasons they don't understand, things that will never be used. Collapse was inevitable.

Real estate development is a large contributing factor to GDP.

The Chinese government propegated the myth to their population that buying junk rental property is a sound investment. So they did so. So the GDP increased.

Mao on housing essentially.

Basically the Mao communists turned their nation into one giant hive mind of people who are shallow minded and rigid in their thinking. The brave ones who stand out get hammered down. That's how they got where they are. Cheap, crass, and tacky covers their entire culture. Original Chinese culture survives in Singapore.

KEK, this is the citizens pushing back on the government for lockdowns, which was really about preventing bank runs. So now, citizens have stopped depositing money into banks and stopped paying their mortgages. If the government thinks only they can punish citizens, they found a way to fight back.

Good for them. Personally, I'm slowly withdrawing my cash so I only have enough in my bank to pay my bills. I expect capital controls in the US. I just don't know when.
