Probably not the best place to post a clip from left-wing Hollyjewed production but I've always liked this movie. I'm not sure what to make of Oliver Stone now - IIRC he is too far left such that neo liberals hate him. I know he recently made documentaries on Ukraine and on the JFK assassination lately - did he point his finger at the jew in the latter?

Anyway, Tom Cruise is a cultist but still a good actor. This is probably his best performance. I think most people can get behind the message his character, based on the real-life anti-war activist Ron Kovic, says about the corruption of our government and the ongoing deception of its citizens. It tears me up every time I think about it.

I'm here tonight to say that this war is wrong, that this society lied to me, it lied to my brothers. They deceived the people in this country, tricked them into going thirteen thousand miles to fight a war against a poor peasant people who have a proud history of resistance, who have been struggling for their own independence for one thousand years, the Vietnamese people. I can't find the words to express how the leadership of this country sickens me.

People say, "If you don't love America, then get the hell out." Well I love America, we love the people of America very much, but when it comes to the government it stops right there. The government is a bunch of corrupt thieves, they are rapists and robbers, and we are here to say that we don't have to take it anymore. We are here to tell the truth, they are killing our brothers in Vietnam, we want them to hear the truth tonight. This wheelchair, our wheelchairs, this steel, our steel is your Memorial Day on wheels. We are your Yankee Doodle Dandy come home.

Why are they gassing us out in the parking lot? Why are they fighting us? Because it is a lie. The truth is that they have killed a whole generation of young men. They have sacrificed a whole generation of young men.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

It's a very tough movie to watch. It was a "reckoning" or "shot in the arm" for Americans to watch* Born on the Fourth of July* in 1990 and finally come to grips with what had happened 20 years earlier. I think this movie made us realize that there were a lot of wrongs done. ON ALL SIDES. The hippies who blamed and disrespected Vietnam veterans The Veterans Administration that did everything they could to deny treatment, lie and "scimp" to save a few bucks. The government that lied, lied, and denied everything. The pro-war hawks that blacklisted the anti-war doves out of entire industries with McCarthyite "list" tactics. Whereas *Rambo II *focused American anger at the government (Kissinger) for leaving POWs in Vietnam and demanded accountability, Born On The Fourth of July was our country's first attempt to look inward and realize how wrong all of us were on every side.

JFK suspected war in Vietnam was unwinnable. By 1963 he apparently wanted to withdraw American presence there. So, the jews had him killed and put that piece of shit LBJ in charge. The rest is history.

Going to war with Vietnam was primarily about ripping apart the fabric of American society. (((They))) succeeded in doing that.
